Graphic editor GIMP. Setting the Scene

For quite a while I encounter a network reference to the various free graphic editors. That is, programs for processing photos and other images. Many of them are positioned as an alternative to Adobe Photoshop CS4 - the best program of its kind. And he is just and is very even paid the licensing program, often unaffordable ordinary user. And it created a lot of training materials, as both free and paid (eg, course Zenaida Lukianova).

Until recently I used in my practice, for simple operations with images, the program Paint.NET.3.5.3, and she could manage with simple and not very purpose. But, I wanted to try something else. After searching my choice fell on the program GIMP.

Comments on it in the network are positive. Distribution program itself weighs a little bit (18MB). The current version of GIMP 2.6.8 can be downloaded from the official site of GIMP. The network has several sites devoted solely to Gimpo, where you can find Russian-language instruction, video lessons, illustrated lessons, plugins, add-ons and links to the latest version of the program. Installation is simple --

- First, run the file "gimp-2.6.8-i686-setup.exe"
- This starts the windows installer - click it on the "Next"
- In the next window again "Next"
- Then you will have the choice between installing the default (Install now) and custom installation (Customize)  I shake "Install now"
- We wait until the install and you will be finishing window
- In the window that appears, click "Finish", to finish the installation
- The program itself starts. If you do not want, then in the finish box, uncheck "Launch GIMP"

There will be three panel program: the total box menu at the top, left panel with the tools and the right panel to work with layers, history of changes and so on. People familiar with the Photoshop certain to see a lot of similarities, and can quickly master the program.

By the way, when you want to open any image editing at once, then click on the file, right click and click on the "Edit with GIMP". So the image will open soon in the program, and you can start the process.
