Although, at the same time, there is already a lot of opportunities to receive mail directly to your computer using mail program email client. And it, in principle, then, and do not have to look far. The simplest version, for example, is set in Windows, Outlook Express. But, as it will be discussed in a future article.
Today, we consider the possibilities in this regard, the
browser Opera. As it turned out, after three years of its operation to me, there exists a built extension, which is serving as the mailer. Moreover, management and creation of the letters are absolutely similar to that used in the service we give to the electronic mailboxes. Until that synchronizes the folder structure, including the further you have created, in the account's service, and actions undertaken by you on the files of letters in the mail program. For this, you need to include the function in the IMAP settings on the service and thus create an account in mailer.
By the way, before signing up for a mailbox, in any such program, advise on service to find the Help section and Settings. 100% There are instructions for setting up most popular email programs. Let these pages will be open, because you will need to set:
- address POP3-or IMAP-server - it is responsible for incoming mail;
- address of SMTP-server - it is responsible for outgoing mail from you;
- particular setup SMTP-server for a specific service;
- possible, although unlikely, will require port numbers to work with servers.
Separately, in a text file, save such data (to make it easier to fill by kopipasta):
- full email address (such vashlogin@servis.ru)
- password
After this, go to the procedure for creating an account at the Opera. For this, the top horizontal menu, click on the tab "Tools", where we find "Accounts-mail and instant messaging. If you do not have a single account, then after clicking on the item pops up a window with the question: "You need to create an account before you proceed. Create it now? "Click" Yes "and will receive the following form, where you will be asked to select the type of this record. Select "Email" and click "Next>". In the new form you will be asked to enter: full name, address, mailbox and organization (I always write in such a field, home) - and again click "Next>". The following entry form: username ( «vashlogin» from the address) and password to access your mail. In the same manner we choose, on what the protocol will receive mail, "Surface mail (POP)» or IMAP. The default is POP.
Actually, on the «IMAP» I already wrote above. If you select it, then you need to turn it on in the settings of mail service. Moreover, not a fact that such a protocol is supported by your service. To begin, I advise you to choose POP. In this case, if the server addresses, the service standard (POP3 - type «pop.servis.ru», and SMTP - «smtp.servis.ru»), after clicking "Next>" in the following form and you'll see them in forms " Incoming Mail Server "and" Outgoing Server ", which checks the address server and presses" OK ". However, it is quite possible that, after you click "Next>" the account creation process is completed, and the program immediately begins to download messages. For example, so I had to configure the mailbox "@ gmail.com» and «@ mail.ru». After the formation of the first account, in the top menu of your browser, you will see the tab "Mail", where you can work with electronic correspondence. But I advise you to configure your browser to display additional sidebar "Quick Tabs". To do this, click: "View" - "Toolbars", tick the "Panels".
Side will narrow socket with icons of tools: bookmarks, mail, contacts, widgets, notes, downloads, history and more (add on option, "+" sign in the panel). If you click on the icon with the letter, then opens the control panel ribbons news and e-mail accounts. Choose the necessary and appropriate content from the received mail is displayed in the browser window, and in the panel itself will open a standard folder structure of the mailbox. Create and respond to messages the same way as you did in the account's in the service. Receiving initialized right click on the name of the account and choosing from the context menu "Check Mail".
If you do something incorrectly configured when you create an account or want to customize it, then click on the button again on the tab menu "Tools" and then "Accounts-mail and instant messaging." A form of "Account Management", where you need the left mouse button to click once on the name desired, and click the "Change".
A window will appear "Account Properties" from the tabs in which you and make the necessary changes:
1) General settings (record name, address, mailbox, etc.).
2) Then, if necessary, make changes in the server address and authentication settings.
3) Basic settings - this is checked by the function "Leave messages on server" (as for me, it is best to keep) and a number of minutes to check mail on the server (decide in 5 minutes or 105).
4) Settings outgoing messages (encoding, some settings) and editing of the automatic email signature (I advise to make his signature).
To save the settings, click "OK".
Mail folders in the program is available at: «C: \ Documents and Settings \ Admin \ Local Settings \ Application Data \ Opera \ Opera \ mail», where «Admin» you may be different (read the article about the Opera browser 10.01 Final). I recommend making a backup folder on the non-system disk.
The above procedure is, in principle, be repeated to configure mail accounts and in other programs. Of course, with minor nuances, they are characteristic. The key features are correct: the address box, password, server addresses, and authentication of them, ports.
